July 2017 2017 IC AGM In usual tradition, this year’s Annual General Meeting was held on the middle Sunday of The Wimbledon Championships at the National Tennis Centre, London. A total of 60 IC members attended, with 32 out of the 40 IC nations represented. As always, it was fantastic to get so many new and familiar faces together and to work together to constantly improve the ICs of the World. A summary of the day is as follows: Elections to the Executive Committee: • Roberto Pulido was re-elected to the IC Executive Committee as the Caribbean and North America representative Elections of Officers of the Council: • The Chairman of the Council, Peter McQuibban, was re-elected • The Honorary Treasurer of the Council, Mike Carroll, was re-elected • The Honorary Auditor of the Council, Chris Appleton, was also re-elected • Gustavo Herrero was elected as Honorary Secretary of the Council Finances: • Notable exchange rate losses due to impact of Brexit were discussed and noted IC Philanthropy: • An impressive total of 13 philanthropy projects sustainable thus far, with wide geographic disparity • The ICP will be hosting an intimate dinner in November 2017 and a Philanthropy Ball in November 2018 • In support of sending an Ethiopian Philanthropy project team to the Compass African Junior Challenge, there are IC Philanthropy scarves available to purchase for £35. Events: • 2017 has been, and continues to be a busy year for events • The La Carreta event in September in Bulgaria requires more teams • IC Germany Week is underway in August 2017 • Compass Junior Challenge Regional qualifying events are to take place on each Continent • 2017 completed events thus far include; Deltec Bank & Trust Bahamas IC Doubles Week, The Gene Scott Trophy in Bahamas, The Potter Cup (including the inaugural women’s event), CQS 4 Nations Cup and Robert Abdesselam Trophy • 2017 upcoming events include; Compass Regional Junior Challenge, Juego de Pelota, IC Week Germany (Windmill and Mercelis Trophies), La Carreta and the tennis/golf challenge • 2018 is also looking to be another year full of fixtures Website and Communications: • All IC websites are in the process of a major revamp to increase the ICs online presence • This raised potential discussions of finding new donors AOB: • New IC Lapel pins are available.
